CMC VELLORE MEDICAL ENTRANCE (UNDERGRADUATE COURSES):

INTRODUCTION


CMC Vellore is an abbreviated form of Christian Medical College Vellore, which is recognized by the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Chennai.
CMC Medical Entrance is the all-India entrance exam or Common Entrance Test by CMC Vellore to select candidates for admission into various courses offered by the Institute at under-graduate medical and para-medical level
Courses for which CMC entrance is required
• MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)
• B.Sc. Nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• BOT (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy)
• BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy)
• B.Sc. MLT (Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology)

ELIGIBILITY

A candidate seeking admission to the CMC for undergraduate medical courses is eligible to take the entrance examination if he/she fulfills the following criteria:
To appear for the CMC Vellore MBBS entrance examination, all students must possess the qualification and eligibility criteria as prescribed by the institution. All applicants should have attained a minimum age of 17 years at the time of this examination. They must have secured a pass in the higher secondary examination of Tamil Nadu examination board or its equivalent with biology, physics and chemistry. The minimum percentage required in this examination should be at least 60%.

EXAMINATION

The CMC Vellore MBBS examination is organized every year by the institute, normally in the month of May. All students who wish to get admission to MBBS in this college must appear for this written examination. The final selection will be given based on their performance in written test and interview.
This examination includes objective type questions and each question has four or five choices. The duration of this written examination is 3 hours and 10 minutes. The questions are included from the following topics Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General ability and Issues of current topical interest.
There will be 60 questions each for Physics, Chemistry and Biology for 120 minutes and another 120 questions on General ability and issues on current topical issues. The general ability section focuses on the speed and accuracy of the students. The time allotted to answer this section is 70 minutes. The syllabus for Physics, Chemistry and Biology is taken from the 11th and 12th level academics. Students are required to mark the accurate answer on the OMR answer sheet from the multiple choices given for each question.
